| Hiking Club: Though it wasn't required, we did the optional snowshoe trail here, which was our final hike for the club. We were expecting to get the "ALL" badge at this point, but instead got a "190" badge to mark our completion. |
| Hiking notes: In addition to the Hiking Club Trail, we also hiked the Hardwood Hills Trail. |
| Geocaching notes: Fun and challenging. Over a mile of hiking to get to final cache and back. |
| Park comments: Lots of prairie with few shaded areas, especially in the fall after the trees have fallen off the leaves (a Chris-ism). It's probably best to not visit on a hot day, unless you like getting heat madness. On the plus side, it has several restrooms located throughout the trails. The ones we visited were clean and well maintained. [UPDATE] When we went back to do the geocaching, we learned we missed a huge section of this park the first time. There is a really nice hike along the river (Riverside Trail). It's wooded and river makes a hike nice and cool. |
